Whether you’re organising an end of term reward for your class or planning a visit for next academic year, there’s so much for Early Years groups through to KS4 to explore.

Some of the highlights of a school visit to the Science Museum in London include: 

  • Discover inspiring stories of human achievement in space travel and learn about the future of space exploration in their free Space gallery, recommended for KS1-KS4.
  • Early Years and KS1 learners will become Bubble Explorers in the brand new live show designed to develop scientific exploration and numeracy skills, whilst KS2 can investigate forces, maths and energy in new show, Are We There Yet?
  • Feel every rumble and discover incredible stories with educational documentaries in the IMAX cinema. Learn about the animals who have learned to adapt in Arctic: Our Frozen Planet 3D (U) or meet tigers and snow leopards raising their little ones in ever-challenging conditions in Wild Asia: Life at Extremes 3D (U).

  • Book a visit to Wonderlab and experience over 50 hands-on exhibits linking to curriculum topics, watch live experiments at the Chemistry Bar and meet the Science Museum’s Explainers who facilitate engagement. Free for KS2 groups during term time.
  • Guided by familiar characters from the brand-new Horrible Science TV series, KS2 groups will blast off into the Solar System on a cosmic adventure in their new exhibition, Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos. Packed with curriculum-linked science, interactive experiments and playful challenges, be among the first to experience it when it opens in March 2027.
  • Challenge problem-solving skills, encourage collaboration and sharpen critical thinking at the museum’s hands-on gaming experience, Power Up. Pupils will explore consoles and video games from the past 50 years, from Pong to Pacman, Minecraft to Mario.
  • KS3 and KS4 groups can meet real-life technicians and explore STEM careers in free, 60-minute Careers Uncovered sessions hosted in the technical careers gallery, Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery.

Teachers booking a school visit to the Science Museum can build an itinerary, check live availability and book online using the museum’s group booking portal. Organised groups receive heavily discounted tickets to paid activities.
