The new Discovery Tour is designed to make topics around conservation and marine life entertaining as well as educational.

Bring science to life and spark imaginations with the new Discovery Tour at SEA LIFE London, a fresh audio experience that leads pupils through the aquarium on an educational journey that combines creative stories and interesting facts.

Launched earlier this month, it’s the first time SEA LIFE have partnered with children’s audio platform Yoto. Young visitors will listen to the 13-chapter tour on Yoto Mini audio players, guided through the exhibits by an interactive audio guide.

Making conservation fun

The tour is designed to complement all areas of the attraction, from the Atlantic Oceans through Coral Kingdom (the UK’s largest living coral reef) to the frozen Antarctic. As your class moves through the aquarium they will encounter species such as turtles, sharks, seahorses and starfish, while the Yoto audio guide tells stories and facts about habitats, adaptation and conservation work needed to help ecosystems thrive.

School groups benefit from special rates when visiting SEA LIFE centres.

Making conservation education fun and engaging is essential to captivate young minds. Neil Harris, general manager of SEA LIFE London Aquarium says that the aim of the immersive experience is to “help children connect with our ocean and the creatures in our care through storytelling that inspires conversation around conservation.”

Support for teachers and pupils

In addition to special rates for school groups, SEA LIFE London provide free lesson plans and learning resources relevant to the science and geography curriculum from KS1 to KS3, as well as a risk assessment framework and teacher support before and after a visit.

Yoto players are designed with young children in mind, so they are safe and easy for primary-aged pupils to use. There are signposts throughout the attraction that coordinate with images shown on the mini players to keep pupils on track, and the guides are available in English, German, Spanish and French.
