Discover@20-21 features a range of hands-on learning activities and interactive tasks.

The new science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM) interactive gallery has opened at the Visual Arts Centre in Church Square, Scunthorpe. Open from Tuesday to Saturday with free admission, 20-21 has six gallery spaces showcasing a range of art, craft and design.

Councillor John Davison, cabinet member for safer, stronger communities (urban), said: “This new feature is something special for Scunthorpe – a space where children can play, experiment and let their imaginations run wild. It shows that learning doesn’t have to be in a classroom – it can happen through laughter, colour and creativity.”

Activities are colourful and designed to engage children in STEAM.

What’s inside?

Designed for young people, Discover@20-21 is packed with activities, from glowing light tables and magnetic walls to spinning illusions and digital art screens.

Children can build landscapes of light, solve circuit mazes, and test their balance on wobbly towers, or create patterns, digital paintings and geometric puzzles and see their creations projected onto the stained-glass windows.

In the outside space, young people can engage with optical illusions and perspective tricks, exploring how shapes, light and movement fools the eyes and minds.
