The cast will use puppets along with live music and storytelling to bring the story of Zog to life.

Originally published in 2010 and marking its 15th anniversary in 2025, Zog tells the story of a young accident‑prone dragon keen to impress at Dragon School.

First staged in 2019, Freckle Productions’ adaptation combines live music, puppetry and joyful, laugh‑out‑loud storytelling. With songs by Joe Stilgoe, puppets created by Little Angel Theatre, and direction that brings Donaldson and Scheffler’s world vividly to life, Zog offers a magical theatrical experience for all ages.

Education resources

Teachers can download a free education pack including different activities including a painting task and making dragon models. It also explores some of the many themes in the show such as friendships and working towards your achievements.

Schools can also download a free bookmark and Zog mask to colour in.

Jennifer Sutherland, executive producer at Freckle Productions, said: “We love bringing Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s stories to life, and Zog has been such a joy to share with families over the years. As the book celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2025, we’re thrilled to continue the festivities with a UK tour in 2026 and a summer season at Cadogan Hall. And without giving too much away, fans can expect even more adventures when Zog and the Flying Doctors tours in 2027.”
