Emirates Spinnaker Tower

The Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is refreshing its educational offering with three new resources.

Towering above Portsmouth Harbour at an impressive 170 metres, the Spinnaker Tower is inviting students to get into the clouds for a new perspective on learning.

The popular attraction has designed three new educational packs for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils using its unique characteristics to offer an engaging experience.

What can schools expect?

The three new resources - Terrific Towers, Head in the Clouds and Changing Coastlines - will enable teachers to highlight key points in the Geography, English and Maths curriculum when visiting the tower.

They will be able to download packs to take on the trip and help students engage with key subjects.

Between September and March a guide-led version of the resources will be available for school groups seeking a different experience. It will include talks from a member of staff at the tower and worksheets to complete during the visit.

The Tower is also offering teachers a free familiarisation visit throughout the summer holidays.

School visits to Portsmouth

The Mary Rose has also recently reopened to the public and with it comes a new exhibition which pupils can immerse themselves in, as well as workshops.

The National Museum for the Royal Navy is another place to visit in the area and offers various themed activities for students.
