The castle is designed to ignite imagination and creative play.

Recently opened to visitors, the Storybook Castle is the new centrepiece of the adventure play area on the farm. The castle-themed climbing frame is designed to encourage children to use their imagination and play during a visit.

Nick Laister, owner of Fairytale Farm, said: “The Storybook Castle is one of our most exciting additions yet. It’s designed to spark imagination, encourage play, and create magical memories for families. We can’t wait to see the adventures our visitors dream up inside its towers and walls.”

About Fairytale Farm

Located just outside Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire, Fairytale Farm is a child and SEND-friendly attraction which combines storytelling, interactive exhibits, outdoor play and animal experiences.

The accessible attraction is divided into seven zones: Huff and Puff for adventure play, Enchanted Walk for a fairytale-themed sensory experience, Alfie and Friends home to the resident animals, the Fairy Dell play area, Jack’s Yard where visitors can meet fairytale characters, the Wilderness Walk which offers opportunities to learn about nature, and Dino Valley with a collection of life-sized moving dinosaurs and an interactive dig site.

The farm is home to a range of animals, including miniature Shetland ponies, three species of pigs, rheas, alpacas and ferrets. Handling sessions take place throughout the day, whilst the Wonderland area is also home to the bug hotel.

School children at Fairytale Farm

KS1 pupils can use worksheets focused on themes including wildlife.

School visits

Fairytale Farm welcomes school groups for outdoor educational experiences which support children’s learning and development. The farm offers two options for schools: structured tour programmes arranged in advance and free-form visits.

Early years and Key Stage 1 school groups can engage with the interactive attractions which have links to literacy, maths and science. Pupils can feed farm animals, handle smaller domestic creatures, explore the sensory garden and engage with displays in the Enchanted Walk, including Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Bears.

The team at Fairytale Farm can also work with teachers to provide worksheets, workshops, talks and Q&A sessions which engage with the farm and the resident animals and wildlife. Teachers and EVCs can take part in pre-visits to assess the suitability for a school trip and picnic areas and a café are located on site.

SEND provision

Fairytale Farm has been designed to be inclusive to those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, with disabled parking spaces, free admission for carers and disabled access toilets.

Attractions have been designed to be as accessible to as many people as possible, including sensory areas where visitors can engage with sights, sounds and smells of nature and interactive musical chimes and activity panels in the Enchanted Walk.
