An RHS workshop at the CLOTC conference

This year’s Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (CLOtC) Conference will take place on Thursday 24th November at The Learning Hub at Birmingham Airport.

The annual conference is an opportunity to keep up-to-date with the learning outside the classroom sector (LOtC), and network with others working in LOtC.

The event will feature appearances from inspirational speakers who will reflect on topics relevant to learning outside the classroom and share their experience of implementing high quality LOtC provision.

There will also be a series of practical and informative workshops to allow visitors to find out more about specific aspects of LOtC.

In response to feedback from previous delegates, the council has reduced the length of time for speaker sessions this year, to allow more time for workshops.

The workshop programme will offer both practical activities to develop participants’ skills outside the classroom, and more strategic sessions looking at key research and projects happening in the sector.

Workshops will also reflect the full breadth of LOtC, including school grounds, farming and countryside, arts and creativity, heritage and adventurous activities.

Details of the speakers and full programme will be available shortly and will include a mix of inspirational speakers, policy and research, case studies from schools and providers and practical hands on workshops.

Earlybird discount

Teachers and school travel organisers can book before 22nd July to access the earlybird discount rate of £160 (inc VAT), or £115 (inc VAT) for members of CLOtC.

About the venue

The Learning Hub at Birmingham Airport is a resource for schools from across Birmingham and the region to book as an alternative learning environment.

It’s been chosen as this year’s conference space to demonstrate that learning outside the classroom can take place anywhere. The Learning Hub faces the airport run way and offers views of planes taking off and landing.
