Kidzania launches new library career activity

Date Posted: 01/05/2018

The ‘indoor city run by kids’ Kidzania in London has launched several new activities including a library and a deli food activity.

The Kidzania National Library teaches children about the important duties of working in and looking after a library. Duties that children will take part in include selecting, cataloguing and classifying library books for customer collection.

Another activity within the Library is Story Champions which lets children take part in storytelling, story writing and character building.

The Wrap Factory lets children become 'Mission Deli Researchers' roaming the 'city' to find out what customers like in their wraps. Children will visit the Mission Deli Wrap Factory to learn how to make wraps and use ingredients.

Kidzania for schools

A visit to Kidzania is suitable for pupils aged four to 14 and offers a wide range of activities to take part in. The idea behind Kidzania is to introduce children to real life jobs and activities to help prepare them for later life through fun, hands-on experiences.

There are downloadable resources available for teachers on the website too, which can be used after or during a visit to aid learning. These include lesson plans and activity sheets for the children.

A visit can tie in with a number of curriculum subjects. A visit to Kidzania's bank and supermarket can be tied into Maths, a visit to the Fire and Rescue Unit or Stadium can tie into Physical Education, and a visit to the Garment Recycling Plant can tie in with PSHE. Other subjects include Music, Drama, STEM, Art & Design, Science and English.
