Date Posted: 06/04/2017

The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show, taking place from 14th to 18th June, will host a free School’s Day on 15th June.

Primary school groups will be offered free entry when visiting on the Thursday, between 10am and 3pm. A number of activities and workshops will be able available for school groups, to complement the horse racing event.

The horse show is located 10 miles south of Chester in Cheshire and is described as one of the UK’s most high profile showjumping events.

School’s day

This year’s School’s Day follows on from the success of last year’s, when almost 1,000 children turned up to join in the event. Open to every Primary school in the region, the free day is aimed at introducing horse racing and show jumping to a far-reaching audience.

School’s Day gives children the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a top-class sporting event, which includes the Young Horse Viewing Trials and International Showjumping.

In addition to the featured equine events, there will be numerous educational activities taking place throughout the School’s Day, including workshops hosted by charity The Brooke (Action for Working Horses and Donkeys), and The Pony Club, a voluntary youth organisation dedicated to encouraging young people to ride and to care for horses and ponies.

Corner Exotics, a company that hosts parties where children can see and learn about various animals, will also be holding educational workshops.

Plus, there will be author book readings, model making and the chance to meet a number of animals throughout the day.

Teachers looking to book a school trip should call 01829-307676.
