Richard Dawkins at Blenheim Palace Literary Festival

Taking place from the 25th to 28th September, school groups can listen to a host of leading writers and public figures within the grounds of the World Heritage Site.

Speakers confirmed for the 2014 festival include scientist and best-selling author Richard Dawkins, who will talk about his memories of life set to a ‘playlist’ of music performed by The Orchestra of St John. He will be taking extracts from his autobiography An Appetite for Wonder: The Making of a Scientist.

Additionally opera singer, Ms Jessye Norman will speak at the festival in relation to her forthcoming book Stand Up Straight and Sing. Sir Roy Strong will also be in attendance talking about his book Remaking a Garden- The Laskett Transformed.

School groups are also free to explore Blenheim Palace’s formal gardens, ‘Capability Brown’ parkland and the palace as well as the permanent exhibitions.
