Chiswick House and Gardens has launched The Learning Hub, The Learning Yard and The Kitchen Garden Hub offering facilitated and self-led workshops for pupils from early years through to secondary school, set within one of England’s most historically significant landscapes.
Chiswick House and Gardens has launched The Learning Hub, The Learning Yard and The Kitchen Garden Hub to make school trips more practical, comfortable and accessible.
Its indoor-outdoor hub will support students, teachers, volunteers, community groups and visitors throughout the year, with creative classes available to the public. The aim of The Learning Hub is to encourage students to learn, connect and improve wellbeing.
What is Chiswick House and Gardens?
Located in West London, Chiswick House offers insight into 300 years of British architecture, landscaped gardens and historical significance.
Completed in 1729 by Richard Boyle, the 3rd Earl of Burlington, and later renovated in the 1950s, the estate hosts a variety of events and community programs for schools to enjoy.
Widely regarded as the birthplace of the English Landscape Garden, Chiswick provides outdoor learning opportunities and workshops for pupils.
What is on offer?
The Learning Hub is said to be a welcoming indoor base for year-round visits, providing a flexible space for workshops, practical activities, group learning, as well as dedicated areas for lunch and bag storage.
The Learning Yard is an outdoor space between the Learning Hub, glasshouse and Artists Studio, fully equipped with outdoor seating, wet weather cover and planting opportunities.
The Kitchen Garden Hub offers practical facilities to support volunteers and teachers during school visits. The space provides sheltered seating, kitchen facilities, storage and accessible toilets.
Educational opportunities for students
Each area includes cross curriculum links to a variety of different subjects, including science, PSHE, design and technology and geography.
Students can take part in a range of activities with seasonal tasting straight from the garden.
The workshops on offer can be tailored to each school trips need and can vary from creative projects or even, fitness and wellbeing.
School trip bookings
There are discounted tickets available for school trips booked anytime in 2026-2027.
The space can accommodate 60 chairs, split with 10 tables. The indoor hub includes Wi-Fi, dimmable lighting, kitchen areas, a large TV with a screen trolley, wireless microphone and wheelchair access.
