X-Factor musical I Can’t Sing! to close

Date Posted: 29/04/2014

Stage Entertainment and Syco Entertainment, the producers of I Can’t Sing!, have announced the closure of the production on 10th May, after only a six-week run.

School trip organisers with seats booked after 10th May are advised to contact their original point of purchase.

The X-Factor musical which was written by Harry Hill and Steve Brown received great reviews when it opened at the London Palladium in March.

Despite the largely positive reviews though, Rebecca Quigley, CEO of Stage Entertainment UK said: “It seems that isn’t always enough.”

She continued: “The West End can be an unpredictable place as the closure of a number of high profile productions recently has shown. I Can’t Sing! has had audiences on their feet night after night [and] four and five star reviews from the critics.”

The musical tells the story of orphaned teenager Chenice, played by Cynthia Erivo who is persuaded to find fame and fortune on the TV talent show.

The show stars Olivier Award-winning actor Nigel Harman who portrays Simon Cowell as a narcissistic playboy with glowing teeth and high-waisted trousers completing the look.
