Winter light festival returns to Glasgow this February

Date Posted: 24/10/2013

Winter light festival Electric Glen returns to Rouken Glen Park near Glasgow from 6th-9th and 13th-16th February. Comprising an hour-long artistically lit route through stunning natural landscape, Electric Glen will feature light installations, street theatre and interactive activities.

The festival will be part of the Homecoming Scotland 2014 celebrations; a year-long programme of events designed to celebrate all that is great about Scotland, whilst placing the spotlight on its greatest assets.

The route will lead pupils along wooded pathways through the glen, with its dramatic waterfalls to an ornamental boating pond.

Suitable for school groups, the trail will feature visual, sound and performance-based clues, highlighting the social history of the park.

The end of the trail will see a host of interactive activities taking place at the boating lake, including curling, where a favourite Scottish past-time is given a new twist involving hovercraft technology and brooms.

Electric Glen will run for eight days, from Thursday to Sunday over a two-week period. Entry will be between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.

School trip organisers should pre-book tickets.
