West Yorkshire Playhouse announces autumn/winter season

Date Posted: 10/04/2014

West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds’ autumn/winter season includes large-scale productions of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

The season launches with The Crucible from 29th September to 25th October; described as a new interpretation of the 20th century classic for WYP’s Quarry stage.

For Christmas, the theatre has three shows suitable for groups of all ages, headed by a production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas from 24th November to 17th January.

This iconic film and Broadway title is presented as a large-scale musical with an authentic jazz-age sound, performed live by an onstage jazz band.

Productions for younger school groups

Running in the Courtyard Theatre, James and the Giant Peach, based on the story by Roald Dahl, provides a festive alternative from 5th December.

Following its huge success last year, the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Lyric Hammersmith and Pins And Needles production of Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas returns, providing an inventive and playful offering for younger audience members from 22nd November.

School trip organisers can purchase tickets for West Yorkshire Playhouse’s autumn/winter productions from Friday 25th April.
