West Midland Safari Park to launch new education centre

This summer a newly built facility specially designed for visiting schools will open, called Safari Academy, at West Midland Safari Park.

The building will feature five classrooms for schools and will provide interactive education for all Key Stages.

What to expect

School groups will be able to take part in a variety of activities which will enhance in-school learning.

This will include curriculum linked guided tours, hands-on Discovery Sessions and workshops.

The Academy will also be home to a number of accredited animal care courses, holiday clubs, career days, and open days for clubs and teachers.

According to Caroline Richards, head of learning at West Midland Safari Park, the education team are dedicated to providing wildlife education to visiting schools and colleges as well and animal qualifications.

The Safari Academy has been built for the purpose of teaching and will provide pupils will educational resources. 

Richards said: "This new state of the art eco building will allow us to grow our educational services to meet the needs of the local community and inspire even more young conservationists of the future.”

Additional information

The West Midland Safari Park offers a drive through safari experience as well as walk through zones such as the Discovery Trail, African Village, and Land of the Living Dinosaurs.

For teachers, Safari Academy will offer two free preview tickets, for those who want to familiarise themselves with the attraction before taking their school group.

Coach groups are welcome and the venue’s Safari Drive Through also allows larger groups travelling by coach to see the animals up close.
