Welbeck exhibition displays Quentin Blake

Date Posted: 21/06/2013

School visits to the Harley Gallery at Welbeck can now see a display of work from one of Britain’s best loved illustrators in new exhibition Quentin Blake: As Large as Life.

Running from 13th November to 12th January Quentin Blake: As Large as Life brings together over 50 prints which have been commissioned for hospitals in the UK and abroad.

From people feeding birds or walking the dog to aliens from the planet Zog, the charming drawings aim to offer a therapeutic effect, refreshing the spirit of those who are in hospital.

Each work combines Blake’s characteristic wit and warmth, with reassuring colour, tone and quality of line.

The work of the award-winning Sir Quentin Blake ranges from children’s book illustrations to massive public artworks. He was also appointed Britain’s first Children’s Laureate.
