UK tour for new version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Date Posted: 31/08/2013

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the classic American musical set in 1850s Oregon, has been given a make-over by acclaimed Broadway director Patti Colombo for its UK tour.

Starring Dancing on Ice champion Sam Attwater and Helena Blackman from the BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers will be on tour from this month until May next year.

The musical calls at venues across the UK including Edinburgh, Manchester, Aylesbury, Blackpool and Bristol, before ending its run at the Regent Theatre in Stoke on 10th May.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is the story of Adam (Sam Attwater), the eldest of seven brothers, who goes to town to get a wife. He convinces Milly (Helena Blackman) to marry him that same day.

They return to his backwoods home. Only then does she discover he has six brothers - all living in his cabin. Milly sets out to reform the uncouth siblings, who are anxious to get wives of their own.

Then, after reading about the Roman capture of the Sabine women, Adam develops an inspired solution to his brothers’ loneliness - kidnap the women they want!
