Date Posted: 18/07/2013
Bill Kenwright brings Michael Morpurgo’s The Butterfly Lion to the stage this autumn, as a new UK tour kicks off at Colchester’s Mercury Theatre on 30th August.
The Butterfly Lion is billed as an award-winning tale of enduring friendship, from the acclaimed writer of War Horse, former children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo.
The Butterfly Lion: A synopsis
The Butterfly Lion follows the adventures of Bertie and the White Lion from the African veld to the rolling Cotswolds and the battlefields of World War One France.
When the orphaned white lion cub that Bertie has rescued is sold to a circus owner and shipped out of Africa to Europe, Bertie vows he will see his friend again. Little does he realise the adventurous, romantic, shocking turns his life will take before that momentous day finally comes.
