Date Posted: 08/07/2014

A new gallery at Jackfield Tile Museum, near Ironbridge in Shropshire, opening 16th October, will house a world-class collection of British decorative tiles donated from a private collector.

The education department is designing a new worksheet taking in the William de Morgan tiles plus further workshops.

More details will be available online once the gallery opens.

The 1,300 individual tiles and 310 panels on display in the John Scott Gallery will feature a roll call of prestigious design names including Pugin, Dresser, Morris, De Morgan and Bawden.

Educational Visits

Tile Decorating workshops at the museum are suitable for children of all ages and no prior skills are required.

Students will produce their own tile using the tubelining technique which was popular in the Art Nouveau period.

You can book a school workshop up to a year in advance.
