Themed tours for the autumn term at Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire has published dates for its autumn/winter programme of guided tours and talks for school groups.

Teachers can choose from the following tours:

23rd September: Creating an Architectural Masterpiece

This talk looks at the people who built the palace - from the architect, Vanbrugh, to the stone masons - and highlights some of the unique features of the building.

29th October: Victorian Passions and Pursuits at Blenheim Palace

Victorian Passions and Pursuits (pictured) takes a close look at the Victorian era at Blenheim.

14th November: Odd Men and Necessary Women

Odd Men and Necessary Women provides an insight into the life and work of those who have served at Blenheim Palace through the ages.

28th November: Christmas Past and Present at Blenheim Palace

The seventh Duke and Duchess followed the lead of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in making Christmas a family time and a time to give gifts to their staff.

This talk looks at how these traditions have carried through the ages, and how current staff transform the palace each November into a Christmas feast for the eyes.
