The Wonder of Birds at Norwich Castle Museum

Date Posted: 14/10/2013

A new exhibition at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery running from 24th May to 12th September will explore the cultural impact of birds upon humankind.

The Wonder of Birds will span the centuries to include the arts, natural history, archaeology, fashion and social history, featuring works by major artists and illustrators.

The exhibition will comprise six sections, each highlighting a different aspect of birds, their meanings and our relationships with them. It begins by introducing visitors to the breadth of the subject: what is a bird? What do they mean to us? How have we studied, portrayed, preserved and endangered them?

Divided into six sections, The Wonder of Birds will examine subjects and themes ranging from Predators and Prey, Migrants and Ocean Travellers, to Introducing the Exotic.
