The Royal Shakespeare Company announces its winter programme

Schools can look forward to a packed programme of plays from the Royal Shakespeare Company this winter season, including Richard II, Wendy & Peter Pan and Wolf Hall.

The season includes the return of David Tennant who will play the title role in Shakespeare’s Richard II, directed in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre by Gregory Doran. This is the first production in a new cycle of Shakespeare’s history plays that Gregory will direct over the coming seasons.

Richard II plays from 10th October until the 16th November 2013 when it transfers to the Barbican Theatre to play from 9th December until 25th January 2014.

Ella Hickson gives a fresh new perspective on a much loved JM Barrie children’s classic with her new adaptation of Wendy & Peter Pan from 10th December until 2nd March 2014 in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

World premiere adaptations of Hilary Mantel’s award-winning novels Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies play in repertoire in the Swan Theatre. Wolf Hall plays from 11th December to 29th March 2014 and Bring up the Bodies plays from 19th December until 29th March 2014.

Students can also visit In Stitches – a celebration of RSC costume and the company’s rich tradition of theatre craftsmanship running throughout the Royal Shakespeare Theatre
