Shakespeare masterclasses from Theatre Workout

Date Posted: 28/03/2014

Theatre Workout is now offering bespoke Shakespeare masterclasses for school groups in association with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

The company believes in teaching Shakespeare from an actor’s perspective, introducing students to professional acting techniques and tricks of the trade that will enable them to engage with the Bard’s work.

The workshops are available on any of Shakespeare's plays including Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo & Juliet.

Theatre Workout is also an official partner with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and school trip organisers can book a trip to Stratford through Theatre Workout as part of a tour package.

Workshops can include:

•    Understanding Shakespeare’s theatre and modern staging techniques.
•    Acting technique.
•    Working with prose and verse.
•    Identification of Shakespeare's secret directions to the actor through the text and implementation.
•    Character analysis and development, exploring intentions, motivations and emotional projections.
•    Text / scene analysis and performance in solo and group scenes.
