Science’s big stories told in 3D

Date Posted: 20/04/2015

London’s Science Museum has launched a new theatre to offer visitors a deeper insight into pioneering scientific events from the past.

The Discovery Motion Theatre is now open at London’s Science Museum, allowing pupils to learn about events from science past in a novel new way.

Visitors to the two-room theatre will learn about key moments in science history through the medium of film and special effects.

Pupils will attend a documentary-style pre-show before they collect their 3D glasses to watch a film with physical special effects like water, wind and vibrating seats.

The animated film that’s currently running at the theatre is called The Mallard, which tells the story of the train that set the current locomotive world speed record.

The experience is suitable for Key Stage 1 and above.
