Restoration work has just been completed on the Grade I listed former Royal Navy storehouse which is set to house a new major exhibition next year. HMS – Hear My Story will open during spring 2014 at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

The completion of the work marks a major milestone in the Hear My Story project which aims to give voice to the stories of the men, women and ships which have made the Navy’s history over the last 100 years.

Students on a school trip to the new exhibition will see and hear the stories of the people of the Royal Navy in war and in peace, through their triumphs and disasters.

The new galleries will also have a meeting space where veterans can meet the public to share their stories of living and fighting at sea.

About the venue

Storehouse 10 was constructed by the Navy in 1777 and served continuously as a store in the Dockyard for 200 years, but was severely damaged by a German incendiary bomb in March 1941 during an air raid.
