This summer, Rock UK Adventure Centres will open its brand new outdoor activity centre in Wales, taking its total number of centres up to four.

Summit Centre

The former coal mine in the picturesque Welsh valleys has been turned into a unique destination for adventurous school trips.

About the Summit Centre

The new centre has ‘state of the art’ 100-bed fully catered accommodation, complete with meeting rooms.

The centre is built on the site of an old coal mine and overlooked by surrounding hills and woodland. The rural location means that Summit Centre is able to offer multiple off-site activities.

These include climbing on local crags, gorge walking through real waterfalls, caving, canoeing, kayaking, and eco warrior activities. This allows school groups to experience nature first-hand and get a real sense of adventure and excitement.

It also boasts an 18-metre-high indoor climbing wall and a bouldering area.

With the addition of the new centre in South Wales, Rock UK now has four centres nationwide, including Whitnaugh Park in Newscastleton, Frontier Centre in Northamptonshire, and Carroty Wood in Kent.

About Rock UK

The charity, Rock UK, was founded in 1922 when a group of Sunday school teachers from inner city London took their school children, who had never had a holiday to the coast for a healthy and adventurous time.

Today the charity holds firm to those founding principles of transforming young lives through outdoor learning.

Rock UK also offers bursary places to children who would otherwise be unable to visit us due to financial constraints. All four centres have been awarded the Learning Outside of Classroom quality badge.

Teachers looking to book can call 01442-710090.
