Theatre Workout Education has produced a new schools workshop programme for upcoming West End show The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, exploring performance techniques and engaging with key scenes.

Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui opens at the Duchess Theatre in September, and is billed as a funny, sharp and thrilling take on the rise of Hitler.

Synopsis of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui

Set in Chicago in the 1930s and the Great Depression; it's a time of unemployment, fear and corruption, and the perfect time for a small-fry crime boss and his henchmen to make it big, to seize a greater power, an absolute power.
Arturo Ui and his mob of gangsters run protection rackets for both workers and businesses. Soon Ui's menacing shadow looms large, from the markets, to the docks and across the city itself.

Workshop programme for school groups

Combining a performance of the show with a Theatre Workout workshop; students will be able to explore performance techniques which channel Brecht’s unique style of theatre.

Workshops will also offer the opportunity to experiment with staging key scenes, enabling students to develop a better understanding of the play’s background and history.
