Date Posted: 03/03/2017

Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm and Shakespeare's Schoolroom and Guildhall in Warwickshire have teamed up to create a new joint itinerary for visiting school groups.

The experience encompasses an hour at each attraction, and links to subjects like English and Science.

Meet the butterflies

Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm offers school groups a guided tour of the site, with educational links to Science.

Topics like tropical rainforest environments and the plants and animals that live within these habitats are covered during a visit. There are also plenty of hands-on, close observation activities in an authentic rainforest environment.

Children will get to see hundreds of beautiful tropical butterflies and learn about butterfly anatomy, feeding and the butterfly lifecycle.

Learn some Latin

Shakespeare's Schoolroom and Guildhall, meanwhile, is a new visitor attraction in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Here the class can discover the classroom where William Shakespeare was educated and inspired to become one of world’s greatest playwrights.

Children will find themselves immersed in a recreation of 16th century Stratford and participate in a Tudor schoolroom lesson which includes learning some Latin.

They’ll also be able to explore the building’s role as a Medieval provincial guildhall that sat at the heart of Stratford’s civic governance.

A visit to Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall can link to the National Curriculum  in Maths, English, History, Science, Geography, Art and Design Technology.
