New National Civil War Centre to open

Date Posted: 03/03/2015

The UK’s first ever National Civil War Centre is to open on 2nd May, offering education on the 17th century wars between Royalists and Parliamentarians.

The British Civil Wars made up some of the most tumultuous periods in this country’s history. The centre will provide a complete insight into the clash between Crown and Parliament that helped shape Britain as it is today.

There will be an opportunity to discover why brother fought brother, father fought against son and how a once all-powerful monarch lost his kingdom and his head.

The first of its kind in the UK, the £5.4 million centre is located on the site of Newark’s Grade II Old Magnus Building.
