New LOtC workshop at the City of Caves

Date Posted: 16/05/2015

The National Centre for Citizenship and the Law (NCCL) has developed a new learning outside the classroom activity for KS3 pupils, at the City of Caves in Nottingham.

In addition to its KS1 and 2 workshops, NCCL has added a KS3 option at its City of Caves venue in Nottingham.

The City of Caves has National Curriculum links to History, Drama, Geography and Archaeology.

40 pupils from Aldercar Community Language College, Langley Mill visited the City of Caves on 30th April to test drive the new workshop, and learn all about the geography of settlement.

Pupils explored the caves and learnt how dwellers have lived and worked in them over time. This included finding out about the different reasons people created the caves - for example as a tannery or a World War Two air raid shelter.

Back in the classroom pupils can study the geology of the caves and their rock cycle.
