Date Posted: 22/03/2014

Naze Tower in Essex is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with a season full of events and exhibitions. The eight-floor navigation tower houses an art gallery, museum and tea rooms.

The tower’s tenth anniversary exhibitions comprise a mix of favourite artists from the last ten years and new artists to the tower.

Throughout the 2014 season, school groups will be able to see work by 43 different artists from the eastern region.

Highlights from the spring exhibitions: from 1st April to 22nd June

  • Naze Tower favourites Elizabeth Clifford Turner and Hilary Owers will be including new work that celebrates the Naze in their solo shows.
  • Two new Suffolk artists will also be exhibiting. Ruth McCabe will show a body of work on the theme of Precious Landscapes - the water meadows, reed beds and salt marshes along the East Anglian Coast and the animals who inhabit them.
  • Wendy Brooke-Smith will show a collection of paintings and drawings that celebrate the effects of time, tide and changing light on a variety of boats and coastal corners.
  • Cathy D’Arcy shows a new collection of bold ceramics partly inspired by a childhood spent in east Africa filled with vibrant colours and designs.

School groups visiting Naze Tower can claim a discounted entry rate of £1.50 per pupil.
