Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful on tour

Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful, embarks on a UK tour from 5th March to 28th June. Casting has been announced, and the role of Private Tommo Peaceful will be shared by Paul Chequer and Andy Daniel.

Paul Chequer played the role of Tommo in the original production of Private Peaceful at the Bristol Old Vic, then at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a run at the Soho Theatre and, most recently, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2012.

He also appeared in the 2012 film of Private Peaceful in the role of the Corporal.

Marking the centenary of World War One, Private Peaceful’s tour will include up to four daytime performances in the week to suit school groups.

Private Peaceful: a synopsis

The story relives the life of Private Tommo Peaceful, a young World War One soldier awaiting the firing squad at dawn. During the night he looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.
