Medieval warfare at new Battle of Bannockburn attraction

Date Posted: 15/06/2013

Students will have the opportunity to experience medieval warfare like never before at Scotland’s new Battle of Bannockburn attraction, opening to school groups on 1st April 2014.

The learning team at the Battle of Bannockburn experience will also be offering a taster of some of the learning activities that will form part of the innovative new visitor centre before the opening next spring.

As well as enabling school groups to learn more about the battle through the arms, armour and objects of the period, pupils will be able to interact with characters from the battlefield, and learn ‘first hand’ what the life of a 14th century soldier would have been like.

What is the Battle of Bannockburn experience?

700 years after King Robert the Bruce’s famous victory in 1314, visitors will be able to experience medieval warfare through exciting and immersive 3D technology.

Thanks to new landscaping and an innovative visitor centre, school visits will be able to discover how the tactics and decisions of two kings inspired the events that would forever shape history and Scotland forever.

Teachers should note that pre-booking your school trip to this new attraction is essential as admission is by timed entry only.
