Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds London is introducing a new workshop for Key Stage 2 and 3 groups, focusing on media and news.

The session aims to give pupils the skills in their day-to-day lives to identify fake news and understand how the media works.

The workshops, which will tie in with English and Media as well as PSHE and Citizenship, are available to book from 17th September.

Media & Fake News

During this workshop, students are invited to extend their Literacy skills by exploring the world of media and developing critical thinking skills.

Groups will explore the idea of ‘fake news’ and what it means, plus the impact it has on its audience.

Activities will include structured discussions regarding celebrity culture and media platforms and how the two are linked. Pupils will work together to categorise news stories depending on the ways in which they were shared, who wrote them and the way they look in terms of images and text.

Students will then take part in a game where they will try to identify their classmates’ real stories and fake ones. They will then create a pamphlet of top tips for spotting fake news.
