KidZania London to open in early 2015

Date Posted: 14/10/2014

Opening in early 2015, Kidzania claims it will be the UK’s first educational entertainment experience where children aged four to 14 can learn real-life skills through role-playing different professions in a 75,000sq ft. child-size city, built just for them at Westfield London.

Having welcomed over 35 million visitors worldwide, KidZania is one of the world’s fastest growing educational entertainment brands with 16 locations across five continents – and now for the first time KidZania is coming to London.

Latest news is that British Airways is set to be the airline partner for KidZania London. The partnership was cemented on Sunday October 5th in a landmark moment, when the body of a British Airways branded aircraft was lifted into the site.

At over 18 metres long and weighing 16 tonnes, the plane’s installation took approximately 48 hours from start to finish. It is the culmination of over a year’s planning in conjunction with Westfield London, Network Rail, Transport for London and each of the counties the body of the aircraft passed through on its journey to London from Kemble Airbase, Gloucestershire.

The introduction of the body of an A319 aircraft may seem outlandish, but KidZania is founded on the premise of creating realistic role-plays, which are experienced in real-world settings for kids aged from four to fourteen.

Abigail Comber, British Airways’ Head of Marketing, speaking at the installation said: “We’re so excited that KidZania is coming to London. It’s an experience we simply had to be part of, and this weekend’s events are the first step of what will be an incredible opportunity to bring children’s imagination and dreams to life.”

Joel Cadbury, Chairman of KidZania London, added: "We are delighted to welcome British Airways to KidZania London and could not have hoped for a more inspirational Airline Industry Partner.”

Inside the 75,000sq ft. life-like city, kids can learn over 60 unique and exciting professions, from being a pilot to a  TV presenter, dentist, policeman, beauty therapists and many more. KidZania London will be the 17th KidZania to open globally.
