Impact of WWI on Bristol highlighted in exhibition

Date Posted: 01/05/2014

Moved by Conflict is set to run at M Shed from 11th October to 2nd March.

The exhibition will explore the impact that World War One and subsequent global conflicts have had on migration to and from Bristol, and the effect this has had on the city and its culture over the last 200 years.

Using 1914 as a starting point, groups visiting the exhibition will be encouraged to share ideas emotions and attitudes to conflict as well as understand the global context of the war and the impact of this on everyday life in Bristol.

Moved by Conflict will look into the history of a number of global conflicts from the Napoleonic War to the ongoing conflict in Somalia to understand the impact war has had, and continues to have, on local people.

The exhibition forms part of Bristol 2014, the city’s programme of commemoration to mark the centenary of the start of World War One.

Guided tours of M Shed are available for pre-booked school groups.
