Chris Jesson

If you know someone who organises amazing school trips and champions learning outside the classroom, nominate them for this special award, with a £1,000 prize.

Recognising a School Trip Champion is one of the highlights of the annual School Travel Awards.

If you know a teacher or an educational visits co-ordinator who makes special efforts to get pupils out on school trips, you can nominate them for this special accolade.

The award will be given to someone who takes a holistic approach to learning outside of the classroom and promotes the benefits of giving children new and rewarding experiences beyond the school gates.

Last year Chris Jesson (pictured above), Head of Geography at Gravesend Grammar School, Kent was crowned the first ever School Trip Champion. Chris admitted he was “pretty overwhelmed by the whole process” and was presented with his award in front of 300 people by news broadcaster and presenter, Fiona Bruce.

How the award works

Nominations are now open, so make yours now.

Once all nominations have been received, a shortlist of four people will be drawn up by the team at School Travel Organiser magazine. Someone only has to be nominated once to be considered for the award.

Finalists will be announced in September through the magazines, website and our social media.

You will then get to vote from the shortlist to determine the winner. The winner of the School Trip Champion award will be announced at the School Travel Awards luncheon and ceremony at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London, on 9th November. The event will also include 16 other categories and be another first-class celebration and networking opportunity. All finalists will be invited to the lunch.

The School Trip Champion for 2017/18 will take home a trophy, framed certificate and a £1,000 prize to be spent on a future school trip.

Why nominate?

We want to reward the dedicated people out there who work hard to give school groups the opportunity to get out of the classroom and learn. You can help us give someone the recognition they deserve for their hard work.

Anyone can nominate someone for the School Trip Champion Award: teachers, governors, parents, and staff from school travel providers.

If you have someone in mind and want to nominate them, just complete the short form on the School Trip Champion page.
