Hampton Court Palace opens art gallery

Date Posted: 08/03/2014

Opening on 24th October, school groups visiting Hampton Court Palace will be able to see works of Georgian art on display in its Cumberland Gallery.

The gallery is set in the newly re-opened Cumberland Suite, which was designed by architect and painter William Kent and completed in 1732 for the Duke of Cumberland, the younger and favourite son of King George II.

School trip organisers will be able to take a closer look at iconic works by great masters including Caravaggio, Rubens and van Dyck, in the gallery’s atmospheric Georgian surroundings.
