Hamlet UK tour as part of Shakespeare’s Globe 2014 programme

The Globe’s 2014 programme will celebrate the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth and the centenary of World War One with four Shakespeare plays and a UK tour of Hamlet.

Entitled Arms and the Man, the season will include new productions of Antony & Cleopatra, Julius Caesar (directed by Dominic Dromgoole), The Comedy of Errors (directed by Blanche McIntyre), and a revisiting of Lucy Bailey’s 2006 production of Titus Andronicus.

Four new plays will also be staged: Dr Scroggy’s War by Howard Brenton, Holy Warriors by David Eldridge, Simon Armitage’s The Last Days of Troy and Richard Bean’s Pitcairn.

A global tour of Hamlet will open at The Globe on 23rd April (the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth) and will visit over 70 venues in Europe, South America and the Caribbean

The 2014 theatre season opens on 7th February.
