Groups Direct launches Educational Overnights

Date Posted: 07/02/2017

Educational Overnights are a new collection of school trips launched by Groups Direct that include a West End show, a workshop and entrance to a London attraction.

A typical Educational Overnight experience will include a workshop at the Royal Courts of Justice, tickets to see a famous West End Show like The Woman in Black and entrance to a major city attraction like the Tower of London.

Accommodation and breakfast is included. The package is suitable for a minimum of 20 students.

An example itinerary

The school group will arrive in London at 2pm, with free time for lunch and to settle in to their accommodation.

At 3pm, the class will visit the Tower of London to see the crown jewels, explore the White Tower, see the famous resident Ravens and view the fortress. History studies can be tied in here with links to the monarchy – suitable for all Key Stages.

This will be followed by an evening performance of The Woman in Black.

On the second day, pupils will enjoy a cooked or continental breakfast before heading to the Royal Courts of Justice for a two hour workshop.

The educational visit includes an introduction to the courts and the types of cases heard there, a short tour of the building and a courtroom workshop. Children will explore the different roles in a courtroom and prepare and enact a trial based on a real case.

Teachers should contact Groups Direct on 0800-049 8309 with queries or to make an Educational Overnight booking.

More for school groups with Groups Direct

There are plenty of other educational trips available from Groups Direct. For example, a Key Stage 3 and 4 Forgotten Children day includes a visit the Foundling Museum and then the Charles Dickens museum. The class will participate in workshops in both of these museums, which cover a range of material from the National Curriculum in English, History and Science.

Alternatively, The Arena of Dreams experience covers Geography, History and PE for Key Stage 3 and 4 students at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This trip includes a talk about the history of the park and the Olympic legacy, as well as the London Olympic Games in 2012.
