GCSE text Lord of the Flies to embark on nationwide theatre tour

Date Posted: 04/08/2015

Teachers covering Lord of the Flies as part of the GCSE English curriculum can combine reading the novel with a visit to the stage production version as it embarks on a nationwide tour this September.

Lord of the Flies will begin at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre on 3rd September before visiting venues including the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield and the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford. The tour runs until 19th March 2016.

William Golding’s 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies starts as a desert island adventure for a group of schoolboys, before it descends into a struggle for survival in a sinister world of superstition and immorality.

Education packs are available for teachers, providing cross-curricular ideas suitable for students from KS3 to KS5. Teachers can also book a ‘From Page to Stage’ workshop for students to take part in before seeing a performance.
