Foundation Stage literacy day at Knebworth

Date Posted: 02/10/2014

The Storysaurus Stomp is a new literacy day for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) pupils at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.

The day offers the chance for EYFS children to gather ideas for story writing through exploring, active learning and being imaginative.

Activities have been designed by the Knebworth education team to develop language and communication skills, expression and creativity through a rich and stimulating environment.

At the pilot session for the new programme, children were introduced to the friendly dinosaur character, the Storysaurus, who loves to read and write. The children joined in with singing, miming and storytelling, as story ideas were brought out of the story sack.

Children can then explore the Knebworth Dinosaur Trail complete with 72 life-size dinosaurs using its newly-developed activity pack.
