Outfits worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, will form the centrepiece of a new exhibition opening on the 25th January at Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Fashion Museum.

A Life in Fashion - Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullany will run until 1st January next year, and celebrates 50 years of British fashion house Bellville Sassoon.

Bellville Sassoon has designed clothes for a host of famous names including Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Jerry Hall and Ivana Trump.

25 choice evening dresses selected by British designer David Sassoon will go on display, including three ensembles designed by Bellville Sassoon for Diana, Princess of Wales.

These include the cantaloupe melon silk ‘going-away’ outfit Diana wore as a young bride in July 1981.

Councillor Ben Stevens, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development commented: “The Fashion Museum houses one of the world’s great museum collections of historic and fashionable dress.

“This unique archive of Bellville Sassoon designs is a perfect example of why the Museum has been designated as having a collection of outstanding national significance.”
