Educational travel programme exclusively for girls’ schools

Date Posted: 20/02/2014

The Specialist Travel Consultancy (STC), specialising in educational journeys and expeditions, has launched a portfolio of overseas adventures designed exclusively for girls’ school groups.

The collection covers 12 destinations across the globe; from Morocco to South Africa and Peru to China.

Insights and collaborations

Throughout each school trip, a series of talks, activities and partnerships with local women will allow students the chance to find out what life is really like as a woman in the developing world.

In Thailand, girls can learn how to cook Thai curries from local women in Bangkok – after sourcing the ingredients from the local market. The Ghana expedition includes workshops to make batiks, jewellery and finding out about how Fairtrade chocolate benefits families involved in local cocoa production.

Educational journeys and expeditions

The programme is split into two distinct types of trip. The educational journeys are eight to 12-day mini adventures focusing on a particular subject such as Geography in Morocco, Religious Studies in Jordan and Israel or Biology in South Africa.

Other destinations include Nepal, Thailand, India and China.

The longer expeditions are designed to challenge girls physically and mentally, stretching their global horizons as part of an in-depth 18 month programme of preparation and fundraising which culminates in an overseas expedition of three to four weeks.

Expedition destinations include Morocco, Turkey, Peru, Madagascar, Ghana, Vietnam and China.
