An American in Paris

An American in Paris, a musical originating on Broadway, will open at the Dominion Theatre on 21st March. Bookings are currently being taken until 30th September 2017.

The production is inspired by the Oscar-winning film of the same name, and features music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin.

An American in Paris focuses on the character of Jerry Mulligan, an American GI striving to make it as a painter in Paris, where the possibilities seem endless.

By chance, Jerry encounters a beautiful young dancer named Lise, and the streets of Paris become the backdrop to what’s described as a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war.

The musical features songs including I Got Rhythm, ‘S Wonderful, and They Can't Take That Away From Me, alongside some of George Gershwin’s compositions including Concerto in F and An American in Paris.

Robert Fairchild, a New York City Ballet Principal dancer, will play Jerry Mulligan, and British Royal Ballet dancer Leanne Cope will play Lise Dassin.

The stars, who are reprising the roles following the Broadway run of the show, will both be making their West End debuts.
