Dry stone walling sessions launched in Yorkshire

Date Posted: 10/07/2015

Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre near Thirsk has just created a new range of dry stone walling sessions for schools, which can be tied into a longer residential experience.

Schools can now take pupils to try the ancient craft of dry stone walling at Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre near Thirsk.

Hands-on experience of the traditional skill is suitable for pupils in the later years of Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 and could be tied in to cross curricular teaching back in the classroom on anything from local History to Maths.

Sessions can be included in a day trip to the outdoor centre or form part of a three to five-night residential experience in which students take part in a number of activities to develop team work and problem solving.
