Synopsis: The Kite Runner

The show, described as one man’s journey to confront his past and find redemption, tells the story of a young boy called Amir from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul. His closest friend is Hassan, a young servant of his father’s, but the two are to be torn apart due to the country’s division.

The story is set against the backdrop of some tumultuous events such as the fall of Afghanistan’s monarchy through the Soviet invasion, and the departure of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime.

Based on Khaled Hosseini’s best-selling novel, The Kite Runner has been described as ‘a haunting tale of friendship which spans cultures and continents’. The story focuses on Afghanistan, a divided country on the verge of war, where two childhood friends are about to find their lives torn apart.
