Council for LOtC launches fundraising course

Date Posted: 19/04/2016

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom is inviting teachers to a new course in London on 20th September that looks specifically at fundraising for LOtC.

Financing and funding learning outside the classroom is a challenge shared by schools who want to provide more LOtC experiences for young people.

The new Fundraising for LOtC course will look particularly at the funding sources which are most relevant to LOtC, such as individual donations, community fundraising, businesses and grant making trusts.

The session is described as being ideal for those who are just starting out in fundraising as well as those who would like a refresher.

The course is being delivered in partnership with the Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI), which specialises in supporting small charities and not-for-profit organisations, and utilising the organisation’s experience in fundraising and skills in delivering high quality training.

What will the session cover?

Individuals going on the course will be able to learn how to make a case for why someone should support their LOtC proposition, as well as discover beneficial ways to fundraise from both individuals and the community.

Participants will also learn how to raise funds from grant applications, charitable trusts and companies, as well as how to bring a trip together by developing a successful plan.

There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and teachers will leave with the framework of a fundraising plan for their school to enable them to put what they have learnt on the course into action and start raising funds for LOtC.

Further information

The course will take place at The Lordship Recreation Ground on Higham Road in Tottenham between 9.30am and 4.30pm on 20th September.
