Mel Giedroyc, Penelope Wilton and Emeli Sande are amongst those celebrities confirmed to be reading at this year’s Winter’s Tales event which will take place in December in Notting Hill.

The event, due to take place at The Print Room at the Coronet, will see these celebrity speakers plus many others read their favourite festive stories, both classic and contemporary, from 6th to 10th December this year.

Reader line-up

Mel Giedroyc, best known as one half of the comedy duo Mel & Sue, will read Agatha Christie’s The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding on 6th December, suitable for Key Stage 2 – 3.

Giedroyc will be followed by Emeli Sande on 7th December whose chosen story is yet to be announced.

Downton Abbey’s Penelope Wilton will read on 8th December, stories from Winnie the Pooh by A.A Milne, suitable for Key Stage 1 pupils.

Poet and novelist Ben Okri will be reading a new story, with the title yet to be announced, on 9th December, suitable for Key Stage 1.

British actor Toby Stephens will read The Twits by Roald Dahl on 10th December, suitable for Key Stages 2 & 3.

Completing the line-up will be BAFTA Award-winning actor Tom Hollander, comedian and author Shappi Khorsandi and Jamie Glover. Further details will be announced shortly.

Tickets for schools

Teachers looking to book tickets to the shows can email hello@the-print-room.org or call the theatre on 020-3642 6606. For every ten children, one teacher can go for free.

School group rates are available and post-show talks are available throughout the year at a variety of productions. 

Winter’s Tales is supporting Give a Book, a local charity gifting books to a wide range of people who might otherwise not have access to them in schools and other organisations. 

20 free tickets per performance will also be offered to local schools, via Give a Book.
