Bristol Museums will be hosting new school workshops this year, teaching a variety of subjects from History to Art.
Attractions under the Bristol Museums umbrella include Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed, The Georgian House Museum, The Red Lodge Museum, Blaise Castle House Museum and Bristol Archives.
The new workshops include The Romans and Bristol which will be bookable at M Shed. This session is available now until 5th May this year. During the sessions, pupils will learn about Roman celebrations and handle real Roman artefacts and materials. Children will investigate objects from toys to food and make their own amulet to take home.
At Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, from February, the Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing exhibition will be open and will explore the different techniques and aspects of the great name’s works. To coincide with the exhibition, there will be workshops available too, including Amazing Anatomy, Fantastic Creatures, Talking Pictures and Landscape and Nature.
From 19th March to 22nd March at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, children can discover Geology with Rock On!. During which, pupils will learn about what geologists do and find out about plate tectonics as well as landscapes and identification of different rock types.
New resources
Bristol Museums has also introduced a new teaching resource. The new resource on Bristol’s Black History will teach students about the Transatlantic slave trade and the experiences of the Windrush generation and St Paul’s Carnival.
More resources are expected to be added in the coming months and can be used before, during or after a visit to one of the museums.
